Vyr Muk/Crosses Above The Ruins/2025 EP Review

Ukraine's  solo  project  Vyr  Muk  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  tis  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2026  ep  "Crosses  Above  The  Ruins".

A  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  vocals  are  a  mixture  of death  metal  growls  and black  metal  screams.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  recording  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  songs  stick  to  a  2  or  3  minute  limit.

Throughout  the  ep  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads a re  also  done  in a   very  melodic  style.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  all  of  the  songs  also  sticking  to  a  heavier  direction.

On  this  recording  Vyr  Muck  brings  out  a  very  modern  and  aggressive  style  of  blackened  death  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  ruins  of  the  human  soul  and  a  world  consumed  by  violence,  oppression  and  the  endless  pursuit  of  power.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Vyr  Muk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Coffin  Inside  My  Essence"  and  "Millstone  Of  History".  8  out  of  10.
