A Life To Suffer/Drowned By Melancholy/Noose & Razor Records/2026 Full Length Review

A  Life  To  Suffer  are  a  solo  project  from  Chile  that  plays  a  depressive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2026  album  "Drowned  By  Melancholy"  which  was  released  by  Noose  &  Razor  Records.

Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  depressive  black  metal  screams.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilzied  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  music  being  more  rooted  in t he  early  to  mid 2000's  era  of  the  genre.

Spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  some  tracks  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  and  melancholic  style  along  with  one  track  also  being  an  instrumental,  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  closing  track  is  a  Happy  Days  cover.

A  Life  To  Suffer  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  slow,  depressive  and  more  rooted  in  the  earlier  days  of  dsbm.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  suicide,  self-harm,  emptiness  and  inner  suffering.

In  my  opinion  A  Life  To  Suffer  are  a  very  great  sounding  depressive  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sorrow"  "Emptiness"  "Memories  Of  A  Painless  Life"  and  "Far  Away  From  The  Happiness".  8  out  of  10.
