Arkuum are a band from Germany that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Heir Ist Klein Licht" which will b e released on November 15th.
The sounds of wood burning and clean playing start off the album along with some atmospheric sounding synths a few seconds alter which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic post metal style.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black emtal screams while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them, when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can also be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling and one song also introduces growls into t he music, whispers and clean singing can also be heard briefly.
Arkuum plays a style of post black metal that is very atmospheric, melodic and modern sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover melancholy, grief, death and nature themes.
In my opinion Arkuum are a very great sounding atmospheric post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Heir Ist Klein Licht" and "Herz'. 8 out of 10.
