Forgotten Winter are a duo from Portugal that plays a very atmospheric and symphonic form of black metal and this is a review of his 2024 album "Lucifugo" which will be released in July by Loudriver Records.
Atmospheric and ambient style synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style while t he vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams and the music also has its symphonic moments.
Clear vocals can also be heard in certain sections of the album while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with a couple of songs also adding in a small amount of spoken word parts as well as some percussion style instruments also being utilized at times. One song is also an instrumental and all of the music sticks to a slower direction.
Forgotten Winter plays a style of black metal t hat is very slow, epic, atmospheric and symphonic sounding. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Portuguese and cover Occultism, Paganism, Death and Cosmos themes.
In my opinion Forgotten Winter are a very great sounding epic, atmospheric and symphonic black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lucifuga Vila" and "Ascralt". 8 out of 10.
