United Kingdom's Sepulchre By The Sea has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of an atmospheric style of post black metal and this is a review of his self released 2024 album "Seven Chambers" which will be released in August.
Ocean sounds start off the album along with some atmospheric sounding keyboards a few seconds later which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style and the faster sections of the tracks also add in a great amount of blast b eats.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the songs more of a raw feeling while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some elements of shoegaze also being utilized at times. Clean playing is also added into certain sections of the album as well as adding in a couple of instrumentals. Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and acoustic guitars and clear vocals are added on the closing song. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the writings of Edgar Allan Poe.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sepulchre By The Sea and if you are a fan of atmospheric post black metal, you should check put this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Purple Pestilence" and "Violet Visions". 8 out of 10.
