Croatia's solo project Petrale has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a dissonant style of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2024 album "The Worlds Down There" which will be released in November.
A very fast, raw and dissonant sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim black metal screams while dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilzied they are also done in a very chaotic yet dissonant style along with the tracks also mixing the old school aggression with the more modern era of the genre and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
On this recording Petrale expands on the dissonant style of black metal that he has introduced on previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Croatian and English and cover death themes based on true stories or rumors.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Petrale and if you are a fan of dissonant black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Impersonating A Blade" "The Choreography Of Two Thousand Legs" and "The World Down There". 8 out of 10.
