Germany's Lebensnacht return with a new recording that shows them continuing the atmospheric and depressive black metal sound of previous recordings and this is a review of their 2014 album "uudelleensyntynyt ikuiseen pimeyteen" which will be released in November by Naturmacht Productions.
Clean guitars start off the album along with some organic and atmospheric sounds and a few seconds later spoken word parts are added into the music which slowly starts building up to more of a heavier musical direction which also shows the band adding in depressive black metal screams as well as going into more of an atmospheric black metal direction along with some synths being utilized in the background.
When solos and leads are added into the music they add more of a melodic sound to the bands musical style and they also add in ambient sections at times and as the album progresses the band starts bringing in a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts which also sees more of a raw black metal sound being added into the bands musical style which also shows them bringing in a small amount of blast beats at times.
As the album progresses acoustic guitars and nature sounds can be in certain sections of the recording along with a small amount of clean singing and spoken word parts which also adds a more progressive feeling to the album when they are utilized and the band also starts to add in a few tracks that are very long and epic in length and also shows them finding a perfect balance between the clean ans atmospheric parts and the more raw black metal side of their musical style.
Lebensnacht create another album that displays how atmospheric and depressive black metal should be played and they also add in more melody, ambient and progressive elements to create some well structured epic black metal tracks, the production sounds very dark, raw and heavy sounding while the lyrics are written in German and cover what happens when darkness and light emerge into one.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Lebensnacht and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Erwacht" "Transzendenz" and "Ende". 8 out of 10.
