Sahhr are a band from Los Angeles, California that play black metal with elements of death metal and metalcore and this is a review of their self titled 2014 ep which will be released on Halloween by Domestic Genocide.
Clean playing starts of the ep and a few seconds later the music starts going for a more dark, heavy and melodic musical direction along with some epic sounding synths and after awhile back up shouts are added into the music before going into more of a fast and raw black metal direction along with some high pitched screams.
Metalcore style guitar riffs and vocals mix in with the black metal parts a great deal throughout the recording and some of the riffing and leads also bring in a Swedish melodic death metal feeling at times as well as the band mixing in growls at times and after awhile metalcore breakdowns and technical guitar leads can be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Sahhr takes a very dark style of black metal and mixes in a great album of death metal and metalcore influences along with a great amount of melody to add something new to the black metal genre and while i am not a fan of the idea of metalcore being mixed in with in with black metal, I still feel the band are very good at what they do and would be an even better band if they dropped that influence, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Sahhr are a very decent sounding mixture of black metal, death metal and metalcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Altar of Maggots". 7/5 out of 10.
