Leibstandarte Luzifer are a band from Germany that plays a very raw and humorous form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 demo "Succubus".
A very dark drone sound starts off the demo along with some melodic guitar leads and grim black metal screams and growls and after the intro the music starts going for more of a raw second wave style that uses a great amount of blast beats and also has the production qualities of some of the 90's demo bands that never released an actual album.
When solos and leads are utilized they remain true to a raw style of black metal while they also have their melodic moments at times and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and while the music is mostly rooted in second wave style elements of European pop music can be heard briefly and some songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and later tracks also brings in atmospheric and experimental elements.
Leibenstandarte Luzifer plays a style of black metal that is very raw and grim while also not acting all seriously, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover drinking Waldi and humorous themes.
In my opinion Leibenstandarte Luzifer are a very great sounding raw and humorous black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Succubus Cleaned My House At Night" and "I've got A Hole In My Shoe". 8 out of 10.
