Livlost are a band from Norway that plays a very heavy and necro form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Cold Skin" which was released by Downfall Records.
Atmospheric sounding drones start off the album while also introducing synths onto the recording as well as adding in a brief use of spoken word samples and noises before going into a heavier direction on the second track. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in more of a dark and melodic style.
Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams. A great portion of the songs are very long and epic in length along with the music also adding in a decent mixture of modern and old school influences, synths also return on some of the later tracks.
As the album progresses a brief use of clean vocals can also be heard and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo style and towards the end a small amount of percussion's and acoustic guitars are added into the music. The production sounds very dark, raw and heavy while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Livlost are a very great sounding heavy and necro black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cold Skin" and "To The Fallen One". 8 out of 10.
