Nachtig are a solo project from Germany that plays a very atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his self titled 2019 album which will be released on Halloween by Purity Through Fire/
Tragic sounding keyboards start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction which also introduces high pitched depressive black metal screams onto the recording. When the music speeds up briefly a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
All of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow and mid tempo parts. Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with the music also mixing the atmospheric elements into the heavier sections of the tracks, the songs also add in a decent amount of 90's influences.
Nachtig plays a style of depressive black metal that is very atmospheric and raw sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover melancholy, hate, depression, misanthropy, love, night and nature themes.
In my opinion Nachtig are a very great sounding atmospheric and depressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Der Kreis Des sterbens" and "Der Letzte Weg". 8 out of 10.
