Feralia are a band from Italy that plays a very original form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Helios Manifesto" which was released by Vacula Productions.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album and also introduces atmospheric drones and clean playing onto the recording before going into a heavier direction. A couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length while clear vocals can also be heard briefly before evolving into grim black metal screams.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in some melodies.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling as well as clean playing and drones also making a return in certain sections of the recording. At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding as well as the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and as the album progresses clean vocals also make a brief return. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Feralia are a very great and original sounding black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Conception" and "Rebirth". 8 out of 10.
