1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Crimson Dimension is a blackened progressive metal band from Central Finland. The band has been playing together with different line-ups about 10 years and the current line-up has been together for about 8 years already. We have always been writing and playing our own songs. After rehearsing and recording demos of these songs for some time we decided to go ahead and work on a full album.
2.You have your first full length coming out in June, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
Yes, our debut album is to be released on 4th of June 2021. During the writing and working on the album we never were thinking about the style. The musical style just happened as an evolutionary process. As a result we produced long progressive compositions with a dark atmosphere.
3.The band has been around since 2017 but you waited until 2021 to release a full length, can you tell us a little bit more about the earlier years?
Actually we have been around longer, but we released a single demo of the song "Black Mass" in 2017. We rehearsed and made instrumental arrangements and perfected the songs some years at our rehearsal place. The recording process took a long time and there was no reason to hurry with the release.
4.Some of your lyrics cover satanic and occult themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
Yes, there’s that satanic message in the lyrics. Some members of the band may be more interested in these things than others.
5.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
The subjects are a mixture of lived life and all the shit that has happened in it. Also thoughts of the smallness of man in this great emptiness around us. We've tried to make lyrics that wouldn’t be too black and white stuff. So that there would be a touch surface for all listeners. The Satanic message is a very strong part of the lyrics of course.
6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Crimson Dimension'?
The band was nameless for a long time. At some point the name Crimson Dimension came up. The name fits our lyrical themes and style of the music.
7.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
Our vocalist has real goat skulls as relics. We decided to have a photoshoot session with the skulls and it became the theme of the album cover as well. The skulls also present the occult themes on our lyrics as mentioned before.
8.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?
We have done a few live shows with the previous line-up and under different name. We will see what happens in the future
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and progressive metal?
There have been a few articles about our band and some good publicity. The reactions and comments have been positive or promising so far. Interesting to see what reactions the release of the album will get.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
The style was never planned as mentioned previously. We are currently working on new music and so far it is going to be more complex. The song lengths are going to be longer rather than shorter.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Every band member takes inspiration from their own favorite music and artists. As a band we like to channel this inspiration from many sources to our own music.
