Vrexiza are a band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada that plaqys an old school form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2021 demo which will b e released in July by Signal Rex.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the demo along with some high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard while the music also shows influences of the French, Finnish and Ukrainian scenes.
All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. A small amount of melody can also b e heard in some of the guitar riffing along with the whole recording also sticking to a heavier musical direction.
Vrexiza plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school in the Western and Eastern European traditions. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover war, battles and conflicts around the globe if centuries past and going into the Germanic Tribes, Roman Empire, Napoleonic Wars and WWII.
In my opinion Vrexiza are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Iron Spectres" and "Corpses Of Fervor". 8 out of 10.
