Norway's solo project Eldamar has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for an epic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2024 album "Astral Journeys Pt. I : Creation" which will be released in September by Northern Silence Productions.
Ambient style keyboards start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody along with the music also having its atmospheric moments and have the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the keyboards also add in a variety of many different sounding keys. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with some clean playing also being utilized at times. A couple of the tracks are also instrumentals and the whole album also sticks to a slower section.
On this recording Eldamar remains true to the epic and atmospheric style of ambient black metal that he has established on previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics existentialism and nonphysical experiences.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Eldamar and if you are a fan of epic and atmospheric ambient black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "First Sight Of A New Realm" and "Act II : An Eternal Sorrow". 8 out of 10.
