Greece's ΑΧΕΡΟΝΤΑΣ have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "NEKYIA - The Necromantic Patterns" which will be released on April 30th as a joint effort between Zazen Sounds and Ill Damnation.
Ritualistic chants, soundscapes and synths start off the album which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams while the riffs also add in some melodies along with some spoken words also being utilized on a few tracks and blast beats are added into the faster sections of the recording.
When tremolo picking is added into the fast riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and at times the music also gets very dissonant sounding.
A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the music also having its atmospheric moments as well as one track also adding in a brief use of clear singing, pianos and saxophones are also added into certain sections of the recording, Female chats and vocals can also be heard on a few songs and the album also brings in a good amount of angry shouts. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Astral Vampirism, Hermeticism, Kabbalah, Dream Workings and Luciferian Magick.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from ΑΧΕΡΟΝΤΑΣ and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Eleventh Inversion - Oracles Of The Abyss" "The Chalice of Fiery Transmutation" and "Truth Id A Pathless Land". 8/5 out of 10.
