Necrostrigis are a duo from Poland that plays an old school form of vampyric black metal and this is a review of their 2020 compilation album "From Bleak Cavernous Chambers" which will be released in March as a joint effort between Nebelar Carcoma and Postmortem Apocalypse.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the compilation before going into more of a fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's era.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are done in a very dark and melodic style. A couple of the tracks are also long and epic in length along with one track also introducing clean playing onto the compilation.
All of the musical instruments on the compilation also have a very powerful sound to them as well as some of the riffing also adding in a small amount of dark sounding melodies and as the compilation progresses spoken word parts can also be heard briefly, one track also adds in a brief use of spoken word parts. The production sounds very dark, raw and old school while the lyrics cover satanism. demons, evil, vampyrism, mysticism and northern abyss themes.
In my opinion Necrostrigis are a very great sounding old school vampyric black emtal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Night Sabbath Metal" "Grave Cavern (Hunting For Blood)" "Cursed Dead Marshes" and "Possessed By The Cult Of The Night". 8/5 out of 10.
