Avskräde are a duo from Sweden that plays a very old school and traditional form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Det stora tunga sjuka" which will be released in December by Purity Through Fire.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album along with a brief use of spoken word parts before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black emtal screams while the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave style.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also remain very true to an old school style along with all of the music also sticking to a heavier direction.
Avskräde plays a style of black emtal that is very old school and traditional sounding in the 90's Nordic style. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover darkness and death themes.
In my opinion Avskräde are a very great sounding old school and traditional black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album.
