Apostasie are a band from Germany that plays a very melodic and aggressive from of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Non est Deus" which will be released in November by Trollzorn Records.
Folk instruments and spoken word parts start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. Female vocals can also be heard briefly along with the riffs also adding in a lot of melody and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a great portion of the tracks also being very long and epic in length, acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly as well as one track also adding in a brief use of church choirs.
Apostasie plays a style of black metal that is very aggressive, melodic and epic sounding as well as adding in elements of folk music to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the events in the so-called Christian 'history of salvation', the Latin-Roman church history and the closely related European History.
In my opinion Apostasie are a very great sounding epic and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Non est Deus" "Eikon" and "Es ist kein Gott". 8 out of 10.
