Machtklang are a solo project from Germany that plays a very raw form of black metal with elements of doom metal and this is a review of her self titled and self released 2024 album which will be released in December.
A very ritualistic sounding intro starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while the slower sections of the songs also bring in elements of doom metal. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the vocals are done in more of a deep and grim style mixed in with some black metal screams.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in more of a dark yet melodic style.
The songs also add in influences from both the old school and modern era's of the genre along with the tracks also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Acoustic guitars, clean playing and spoken word parts are also utilized briefly and one track is also an instrumental and clear singing is also added on the closing track. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in German and cover Satanism, Anti Religion and Rebellion themes.
In my opinion Machtklang are a very great sounding raw mixture of black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Tief Begraben" and "Herbsthymne". 8 out of 10.
