Romania's Siculicidium have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for an old school form of black metal with elements of punk and doom metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "A halál tengely" which was released by Sun & Moon Records.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the album while the slower sections of the songs also add in elements of doom metal. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them and the solos and leads also bring in a lot of melody.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the focus bring in more of a first wave black metal style. At times the music also captures the raw energy of punk rock along with all of the drum beats also being programmed, wind instruments can also be heard on a couple of the tracks.
The songs also add in some second wave touches along with one track also introducing clean playing and atmospheric sounding synths onto the album and most of the recording sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Romanian and cover Occultism, Symbolism, History and Death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Siculicidium and if you are a fan of old school black metal with elements of punk and doom metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nagyanyó kenyér" "Belső utazás" and "Haláltengely". 8 out of 10.
