This is a review of an earlier recording from Italy's Notturno which shows the music going for an atmospheric and depressive form of black metal with elements of classical music and the album was originally released in 2023 and called "Inside" which was released by Hypnotic Dirge Records.
Pianos start off the album which also gives the recording more of an avant garde edge while also adding in a good amount of orchestral arrangements which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times and some of the tracks also add in clean vocals, spoken word parts and whispers.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. High pitched depressive black metal screams are also a very huge part of the recording along with the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
Clear male vocals can also be heard at times along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, acoustic guitars are also added on one track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, depressive and melancholic themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Notturno and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive black metal with elements of classical music, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'Autumn Leaves" and "No Passion". 8 out of 10.
