Embrace Of Sorrow are a solo project from Germany that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a very atmospheric, melodic and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2024 album "Eternal Mourning" which will b e released in November.
Nature sounds start off the album along with some clean playing and synths a few seconds later while the atmospheric elements also mix in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the faster sections of the album also add in a decent amount of blast beats. Some of the tracks also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a couple of songs also being instrumentals, rain and thunder sounds can also be heard briefly.
A couple of songs are also long and epic in length along with one track also mixing in growls with the high pitched screams as well as most of the album also being more heavily rooted in the modern era of the genre. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover melancholy and sorrow themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Embrace of Sorrow and if you are a fan of atmospheric, melodic and depressive black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Through Shadows To Light" and "Rising From Despair". 8 out of 10.
