Blessed King Of Longing/Self Titled/Syrup Moose Records/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Blessed  King  Of  Longing  are  a  solo  project  from  an  unknown  area  that  plays  an  experimental  form  of  ambient  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  titled  2024  album  which  will b e  released  in  December  by  Syrup  Moose  Records.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  experimental  and  avant  garde  elements  a  few  seconds  later.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  the  songs  also  mix  in  a  good  amount  of  power  electronics  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  and  the  recording  also  captures  a  very  lo-fi  atmosphere.

   

   Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  album  also  mixes  in  a  lot  of  ambient  elements.  Distorted   noises  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  each  track  also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  its  ritualistic  moments  and  the  whole  recording  also  avoids  the  use  of  any  traditional  metal  instruments. 

  Blessed  King  of  Longing  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  experimental,  dark  ambient  and  depressive  black  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  his  own.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  lo-fi  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  death  and  violence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Blessed  King  Of  Longing  is  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  experimental,  dark  ambient  and  depressive  black  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dead  Dove"  "Every  Living  Creature  on  Earth  Dies  Alone"  "Pomegranate  Seeds"  and  "Blue  Velvet".  8  out  of  10.
