Italy's solo project Lord Agheros has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for an atmospheric and avant garde from of black metal and this is a review of his album "Anhedonia" which will be released in 2025 by My Kingdom Music.
Female vocals start off the album along with some keyboards a few seconds later that also add in elements of ambient and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When stringed instruments are utilized they also take the music into more of an ethnic and avant garde direction.
High pitched black metal screams are also a very huge part of the recording while the music also has its atmospheric moments. All of the musical instruments on the album also have a very powerful sound to them and during the faster sections of the songs a great amount of blast beats can also be heard.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the album more of a raw feeling along with some of the songs also adding in choirs. One song also introduces folk instruments onto the recording and the music also has its symphonic moments, throat singing and acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover emotional and esoteric themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Lord Agheros and if you are a fan of avant garde and ambient black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lament Of The Lost" "Lost Dreams Ritual" and "Tears In The Silence". 8 out of 10.
