Hyeno are a duo from Sweden that plays a doomy mixture of black metal and industrial and this is a review of their 2024 ep "Arena" which was released b y Shortlist Records.
Apocalyptic industrial style beats start off the ep while the music also gets very experimental sounding at times. Synths are also added into certain sections of the recording along with all of the tracks also sticking to an instrumental direction and the distorted noises also bring in elements of black metal.
The slower sections of the recording also show an influence of doom metal while both of the tracks are also long and epic in length. The second song also shows the music also getting more ritualistic and tribal along with the track sticking to more of an underground electronic direction.
Hyeno plays a musical style that takes black, doom metal, industrial and underground electronic music to create something very original as well as keeping everything instrumental while the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion Hyeno is a very great sounding doomy mixture of black metal and industrial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Katabasis". 8 out of 10.
