Russia's solo project Frostnatt has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for an instrumental and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2024 ep "Den Evige Vinters Rike".
Clean playing and atmospheric sounding synths which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times as well as adding in elements of ambient start off the ep. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while all of t he songs also avoid the use of any vocals or lyrics along with all of the music sticking to either a slow or mid tempo direction, raw tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing.
On this recording Frostnatt takes his instrumental style of atmospheric black metal into more of an experimental direction while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Frostnatt and if you are a fan of instrumental and atmospheric black metal, you should check out this ep. ECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gjennom Isen" and "Vintersorg". 8 out of 10.
