Berlial are a band from France that plays an evocative form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Nourishing The Disaster To Come" which will be released in February by My Kingdom Music.
Electronic music sounds start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When synths are utilized they also bring in elements of dungeon synth while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the music also has its atmospheric and cinematic moments. Samples can also be heard at times along with some spoken words also being added into certain sections of the album and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can also be heard which also gives the album more of a raw feeling. Some of the tracks also add in touches of post rock as well as some clear singing also being utilized briefly, one song also adds choirs unto the album and a couple of songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and French and cover poetic and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Berlial are a very great sounding evocative black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The last Dance" and "Nourishing The Disaster To Come". 8 out of 10.
