Neamh-mharbh are a solo project from Ireland that plays an atmospheric form of black metal with elements of folk music and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2018 ep.
Synths start off the ep along with some elements of folk music a few seconds later which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. At times the recording also gets very experimental sounding while the vocals are done in more of a black metal style and melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Some of the slower riffing also shows an influence of doom metal along with the vocals ranging from deep to high pitched, when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in more of a melodic style and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced direction as well as some folk instruments and tribal style percussion also being used briefly.
Neamh-mharbh plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and mid tempo sounding as well as adding in elements of folk music to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Ancient Irish themes.
In my opinion Neamh-mharbh are a very great sounding folk influenced atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Genesis" and "Remission". 8 out of 10.
