A Forest Of Stars are a band from the United Kingdom that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording goes for a very progressive and avant garde form of black metal and this is a review of their 2026 album "Stack overflow In Corpse Pile Interface" which will be released in May by Prophecy Productions.
Keyboards and violins start off the album while also mixing in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Melodies are also added into a lot of the guitar riffing along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them and all of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams while the album also adds in a lot of progressive touches. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling and spoken words can also be heard at times.
Clean playing is also added into certain sections of the album along with the recording also having its avant garde moments. Flutes, percussion, samples and lap steel guitars are also added into some parts of the music as well as some clear chants also being used briefly, a couple of songs also adds in a small amount of female vocals. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Philosophy, Occultism, Nature and Astract themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from A Forest Of Stars and if you are a fan of progressive and avant garde black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ascension Of The Clowns" and "Not Drinking Water". 8 out of 10.
