Galvanist are a band from Montana that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording goes for a very experimental and progressive mixture of black, doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2026 album "The Silence Between Stars" which will be released in may by ATMF.
Synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times while most of the songs are also very long and epic in length Elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the recording along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody.
Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can also be heard along with the album also having its experimental moments and the clean sections also take the album into more of a progressive direction.
Spoken words can also be heard briefly along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the recording more of a raw feeling. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the philosophy of writings of Georges Battaile.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Galvanist and if you are a fan of experimental and progressive black, doom and death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Atrophy" and "Hauntology". 8 out of 10.
