Siniestra Interview

ENGLISH  VERSION
1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Since we started with sinister dating back more than 10 years; we were born in a cold and tiny city in southern Colombia. The desire and hedonism generated by living in the musical world black metal stimulated in me the anxiety to experiment in the construction of an own artistic project, where I was not only subject to listening to what others had created, but also to be able to manifest my own musical concept. From then on, begins the work of structuring and building my sinister language.

Brannagh Bapheker, who at that time was also in the creative process of the band Evil Nerfal, gave me his unconditional support to materialize my musical idea; the provision of space for rehearsal, the loan of some equipment, and especially the musical contribution of Brannagh, have been fundamental in consolidating this project. In 2009 he joined the group, Daemon, who from that time and until the present is highlighted by the mystique and bizarre gestures of their vociferations.

So has the Siniestra architecture, of this symbolic manifestation, which does not pretend to be a "band", but an artistic project offered to immortal death.

2. In September of 2016 you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

If you perceive the sound of Siniestra from the surface, we could describe its stridency, the dynamics of the riffs, harmony, fluctuations in the time management, among others,  but if we look at the whole of the musical proposal and we surpassed the superficiality of the perceptual, we may find that Siniestra does not offer a particular sound, but a language unique and profound.  You can discover a whole speech in the terms of the black metal; what makes the repressed returns, that the unconscious is hereby consent and forward.

3. This was also your first release since the 2010 demo, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time period?
After the demo, we were given the opportunity to participate in some events of the local scene black metal, where we were able to deploy live and direct all the host macabre of our music. After that, we had a critical period of instability due to the contingency and laxity of some of the drummers at that time involved with us. This aspect, caused a setback to the intensity of the pace of work to which we were accustomed to.
This period was also used as an opportunity to go to enrich the project Siniestra; devote my efforts to the development of ideas, the composition of other topics, the strengthening of the lyric and the research process.

4. A lot of your lyrics cover Satanism, Darkness and Evil themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the left hand path?
In the darkness, the black metal has its own dark version of the matter, this without a doubt it is quite difficult to raise, in relation to the fundamental history from where has already been addressed their treatment; among these are: the philosophy, literature, history, mythology, cinema, and of course one of the most elaborate forms of darkness, the politc.
I consider myself an apostate of every discourse alienating and impoverishing of reason. Religions like many other ideologies, are the epicenter of the mental shit. The phagocytes of spirit and reason, still devouring us the head with the ceaseless bombardment of his weapon more powerful, the ignorance.

I consider it a contradiction to refute ignorance from ignorance; following an example, I would say that Satan and Christ are the reverse and the obverse of a single sheet of paper; apparently they are opposites, but if you take a scissors (reason) and cut the blade, what is fissured is a single compound of two faces. There is no substantial difference in venerating the "good" icon or the "evil" icon; In either case he has fallen into the trap. Ignorance is the sine qua non of the exercise of an ideology, of which there is no awareness of being trapped in it. It is not the same to generate a discourse from the unconsciousness of the alienation, to generate it from the consciousness of the rupture. In this sense, Siniestra is a break, a fissure in the dark veil of ignorance.

5. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Siniestra'?

The Siniestra’s name has its origin in the Freudian concept of the ominous; this elaboration has to do with the obscure closeness of the occult and repressed that appears to the conscience and disturbs us with its horror. Every harrowing habitat that the human psyche engenders is permeated by the determination of the unconscious in its ceaseless becoming. The repressed returns and its advent is perceived by the consciousness as something, Sinister.

6. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
The experience lived in the show where we share stage with the Polish band Besatt, is something to emphasize. The show with Tohrnspawn, was also an event to highlight. To me in particular, it brings good memories to me the first show realized for the local scene where we released our music for the first time.

With regard to our staging, I could say that nothing more classic and simple; we focus on the interpretation of our music and nothing of babblings.

7. Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

Of our part there is no plan, if any proposal arises we will simply decide.

8. According to the fb page the band is signed to 'Iron Goat Commando', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

This label supports the production of extreme music projects locally and globally. Its leader stands out for the seriousness and commitment with the acts in this path.
.

9. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

I think that the black metal we make, is not known enough globally to give a truthful answer about it. As for the Colombian scene, I could say that there has been great welcome and receptivity with the music of Siniestra.

10. Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Creation is my present, what I do at the musical level is in the order of happening. As I put it in another answer; more than a band, Siniestra is an artistic project whose medium of expression is black metal. All artistic work generates cathartic effects, both in who creates it and in who receives it. In this sense, I create my music to consummate my catharsis in the future from the present; that's what I do with what I do. There is no future between the walls of my coffin!

11. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

In my music influences the world black metal, my personal history and art in general; books, cinema, painting and other forms, are an essential content that influences me flow

12. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

A greeting to the world scene that appreciates extreme music. And thank you for giving us the space to participate in your magazine.

REGARDS
Vlad Siniestro.

a palabra o pensamiento final?

SALUDOS
Vlad Siniestro.
