Funerary Bell are a band from Finland that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Undead Revelations" which will be released inn February by Saturnal Records.
Powerful sounding bass guitars start off the album along with some acoustic guitars before going into a heavier direction while melodic singing can be heard briefly as well as the vocals bringing in grim black metal screams which also bring in ritualistic whispers in some parts of the songs.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while death metal growls are also used at times along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic fashion as well as some keyboards in the background which also gives the songs a more atmospheric feeling.
Elements if thrash can be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a decent amount of dark sounding melodies as well as the music bringing in a mixture of both old school and modern influences, as the album progresses the music shows more of an influence of classic metal and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Funerary Bell plays a musical style that takes occult black metal and mixes it in with elements of death, thrash and heavy metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Hermeticism, Occultism and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion Funerary Bell are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Goat Of Mendes" "Hermetica" "Anima Eterna" and "Spectral Moonchild". 8 out of 10.
