Pestkraft are a band from Spain that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Pest" which was re-issued by Nigredo Records.
War anthem samples start off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats along with all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful as well as the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave tradition along with the riffs also using a great amount of dark sounding melodies and when guitar leads are utilized they are also done in a very raw yet melodic fashion and clean playing is also added onto the closing track which is also very long and epic in length.
Pestkraft plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school in the 90's second wave tradition, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics covers the 14th century Black Death plague.
In my opinion Pestkraft are a very great sounding raw black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pest" and "Suffering Soul". 8 out of 10.
