Mendacium are a solo project from New Mexico that plays a violent mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Decimating Titans" which will be released in February by Redefining Darkness Records.
A very fast and brutal sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of blast beats while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with some elements of war and death metal as well as some of the riffing also bringing in a small amount of dark sounding melodies.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the tremolo picking gives the songs a more raw feeling along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them, at times the vocals also bring in a semi melodic and grim atmosphere.
Mendacium plays a musical style that takes a violent style of black metal and mixes it with elements of death metal to create a sound of his own, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover revenge and anti religion themes.
In my opinion Mendacium are a violent mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Decimating The Titans" and "Make No Grave In My Name". 8 out of 10.
