Devouring Star are a band from Finland that plays a very modern form of satanic black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "The Arteries Of Heresy" which was released by Dark Descent Records.
Atmospheric soundscapes start off the album before going into more of a darker and heavier direction while all of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs more of a raw feeling while the tracks also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also adding in death metal elements at times as well as the music also having its atmospheric moments and as the album progresses the riffs also start utilizing more dark sounding melodies.
Devouring Star plays a style of satanic black metal that is very dark and modern sounding as well as being very aggressive and chaotic at the same time, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Chaos and Babylon Whore themes.
In my opinion Devouring Star are a very great sounding modern satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Procreation Of Blood" and "Her Divine Arteries". 8 out of 10.
