Olde Scratch are a solo project from Ohio that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording goes for an experimental form of occult black metal and this is a review of his self released 2026 album "The Witch Of Endor" which will be released on June 26th.
Avant garde sounds start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Guitar synths are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with all of the drum b eats also being programmed as well as the vocals also being mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
At times the music also gets very experimental sounding while the songs also add in a lot of record scratching sounds. Drones are also added into certain sections of the album along with one song also adding in a brief use of spoken words and the whole recording sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction, blast beats can also be heard briefly and clear vocals are added on the closing track.
On this recording Olde Scratch focuses more on a mid tempo and experimental style of occult black metal. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover the Witch of Endor and her story of those who lifted the Tarnished Reliquary and fallen to ruin.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Olde Scratch and if you are a fan of experimental occult black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Witch Of Endor" "The Fall Of Giles de Rais" and "O Lilith, i Beseech Tee". 8 out of 10.
