Azahel's Forest are a 1 man band from Austria that plays a very dark, grim, raw and primitive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2005 album "Secrets Of The Forest" which was released by Abstrus Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with a good amount of dark sounding melodies being thrown into the music, while the lead guitars are very chaotic and melodic sounding black metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking to enhance the darkness that is coming out of the music.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams with some clean singing being thrown into the music at times as well as some spoken word parts, while the lyrics are mostly written in English with one song being written in German and they cover Darkness, nature and Paganism, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Azahel's Forest are a very great sounding dark, grim, raw and primitive black metal band and if you are a fan of this style of music, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Circles Of A Dead Existence" "Secrets Of The Forest" and "Enclosed By Silence". RECOMMENDED BUY.
