Prosternatur are a international band with members from different parts of Europe and plays a very ritualistic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Abyssus Abyssum Invocat" which was released as a joint effort between Mercenary Musik and Symbolic Art Production.
Ritualistic sound effects start off the album along with some dark sounding synths a few seconds later and after the intro the music starts going into a heavier direction along with some high pitched yet grim black metal screams and the riffs also use a decent amount of melody while the faster sections of the songs use a great amount of blast beats.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark and melodic direction while the fast riffs also use a great amount of tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw black metal feeling and it times they also add the ritualistic parts into their songs along with some spoken word parts.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the music also gets very atmospheric at times while also bringing in a very modern style and when guitar leads and solos are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion and there is also a brief use of growls.
Prosternatur plays a style of occult black metal that can be very raw, modern and atmospheric while also having its ritualistic moments, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Spiritism, Old Occult Mysteries and Rituals.
In my opinion Prosternatur are a very great sounding ritualistic occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mortification Of The Flesh" and "Scrying Mirror". 8 out of 10.
