Vimur are a band from Atlanta, Georgia that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Exegesis"which will be released in September by Boris Records.
A very dark and melodic guitar lead along with some heavy riffs start off the ep before going into a very fast and raw black metal direction t hat also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats along with some high pitched screams and you can also hear the influence of traditional metal in the music.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the riffs also bring in a small amount of melody and the solos and leads also stick to a very melodic style and one of the tracks is very long and epic in length and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and one track also brings in a brief use of clean guitars while the ep closes with some synths and nature sounds.
Vimur plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic and aggressive sounding while also adding in a touch of thrash and traditional metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Paganism, Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Vimur are a very great sounding raw, aggressive and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Age Of Satan". 8 out of 10.
