Tatanhammer are a band from Finland that plays a raw mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "The Art of Human Sacrifice" which was released by Abandon Tapes.
Ritualistic sounding drums start off the album along with some distorted amp sounds and crazy yet high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later while avant garde elements and synths can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier direction which also introduces death metal growls onto the recording.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard while the solos and leads are done in a very chaotic style along with the tremolo picking giving the songs more of a raw feeling as well as also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and at times the music also mixes in the brutality of war metal and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them, psychedelic elements can also be heard on some of the tracks and synths also return as the album progresses.
Tatanhammer plays a musical style that takes bestial death metal and raw black metal and mixes it with some psychedelic elements to create something very original, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Tatanhammer are a very great sounding raw mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ashes" "The One" and "Satan, Be heard". 8 out of 10.
