Irshi is a solo artist from Turkey that plays an acoustic form of depressive black metal and this is a review of his self released 2025 album "Altinli Ablam".
Acoustic guitars which at times also add in finger picking and full chords start off the album along with some clear singing a few seconds later which also adds in touches of post rock. Harsh vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams and some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Some of the tracks also add in guest musicians which could also be heard on some of the different guitar styles Electric guitar leads are also utilized on a couple of songs and a later track also adds in a brief use of bass guitars and drums and as the album progresses a small amount of synths are introduced into the music, spoken words are also added towards the end.
Irshi plays a style of black emtal that is very depressive as well as avoiding the use of any heavy instruments to create something very different. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics are written in Turkish and is a concept album based upon ancient Anatolian Folklore.
In my opinion Irshi are a very great sounding acoustic depressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Umay Anne" "Bilgelik Yargisi" "Altinli Ablam" and "Irshi, Silver Moon - Tezekli Ablam". 8 out of 10.
