Corridoré are a band from Madison, Wisconsin that plays an atmospheric form of post black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Abandon" which will b e released in August by Hypaethral Records.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album along with some melodic riffing a few seconds later. All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the vocals bring in more of a shouting style as well as all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic post metal style while the album also has its atmospheric moments. When clean playing is utilized it also adds in a touch of shoegaze along with some clear singing also being used at times and when the music speeds up a blast b eats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is added into the fast riffing they also give the songs more of a raw black metal feeling along with some of the tracks also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding and keyboards are also added towards the end. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover isolation, grief and the frail resilience of the human spirit.
In my opinion Corridoré are a very decent sounding atmospheric post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "(Become) Carrion" and "Like Moths". 7 out of 10.
