Ash Magick are a duo from Turkey that plays a very raw form of occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Rituals Of Anathematic East' which will be released in August by Apocalyptic Witchcraft.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album along with some ritualistic chants and clear singing while the harsh vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music also adds in a lot of old school touches. Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some of the tracks also adding in a small amount of guitar leads, one song also adds in some clean playing.
When synths are utilized they also enhance the ritualistic nature of the recording and folk instruments can also be heard briefly as well as a couple of songs also being long and epic in length and a later song also adds in a small amount of spoken words. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Ancient Mesopotamian Sorcery, Syriac/Eastern Mysticism, Ancestral Lore, Spiritual Decay, Cursed Devotion and Forbidden Knowledge.
In my opinion Ash Magick are a very great sounding raw, ritualistic and occult black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Kneeling Wretch" and "Day of Resserection". 8/5 out of 10.
