This is a review of a 3 way split between Italy's Baratro, Bestia and Sangue Malefico called "Sentenzia Diabolica" which was released by and we will start off the review with Baratro a band that plays a very raw form of depressive black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some synths before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams while the riffs also add in a lot of dark sounding melodies.
Growls are also utilized at times along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, clean playing can also be heard briefly as well as the music also capturing a very lo-fi atmosphere. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Italian and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Baratro are a very great sounding raw and depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Baratro".
Next up is Sangue Maleficio a band that plays a very raw form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some horror movie style synths and voices before going into a heavier direction. A lot of the music is very heavily rooted in t he old school era while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams mixed in with some spoken words and melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which gives the recording more of a raw feeling, when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style. The songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Italian and cover Death and Anti Christianity themes.
In my opinion Sangue Maleficio are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Sentenzia Diabolica".
Next up is Bestia a band that plays a very raw form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with the sounds of war before going into a heavier direction along with some keyboards a few seconds later. Vocals are mostly grim black metal screams while the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era of the genre and the music also captures a lo-fi atmosphere.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the second track is done in more of a dark ambient style. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Italian and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Bestia are a very great sounding raw and lo-fi black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK 'Lamento".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and if you are a fan of raw, lo-fi, old school and depressive sounding black metal, you should check out this album. 8 out of 10.
