Black Whispers/Shades Of Bleakness/Symbol Of Domination Productions/Prison Tatt Records/Outer Line/2015 CD Review

  Black  Whispers  are  a  band  from  Costa  Rica  that  plays  an  atmospheric  and  depressive  form  of  black metal  and  this  is  a  review of  their  2015  album  "Shades  Of  Bleakness"  which  will  be  released  in  December  13th  as  a  joint  effort  between  Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions,  Prison  Tatt Records,  Outer  Line.

  A  very  atmospheric  synth  starts  off  the  album  and  after  the  intro  gets  more  heavier  and  melodic  while  also  keeping  around  the  atmospheric  elements  and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  black  metal  screams  make  their  presence  known  and  they  also  bring  a  very  depressive  feeling  to  the  music  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and epic  in  length.

  Clean  playing  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  melodic  vocals  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  you  can  feel  post  rock  influences  can  be  heard  quite  a  bit  in  most  of  the  tracks  and  as  the  album  progresses  spoken  word  parts  can  be heard  briefly  and  all  of  the  songs   stick  either  to  a  slow  or  mid paced  musical  direction  and  they  close  the  album  with  a  cover  of  Life  Neglected's  "Dying".

Black  Whispers  plays  a  style  of  post  black  metal  that  is  very depressive,  melodic  and  atmospheric  sounding  keeping  away  from  any  fast  parts  to  create  more  of  an emotional  style,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  negativity  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Black  Whispers  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and   depressive  post  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Gloom"  and  "Stuck  In  The  Past  Ruins".  8  out  of  10.

Fimbulvinter/Nachertanbl Rezbl Drevnih Curse/Symbol Of Domination Productions/Yar Productions/2015 CD Review

 Fimbulvinter  are  a  band  from  Russia  that  plays  a  pagan  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Nachertanbl Rezbl Drevnih Curse"  which  will  be  released  on  December  6, 2015  as  a  joint  effort  between  Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions  and  Yar  Productions.

  A  very  melodic,  epic  and  atmospheric  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  solos  and  leads  that  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  adding  in  fast  raw  black  metal  riffs  and  blast  beats.

  Throughout the  recording  there  is  a  great  mixture  of  slow, mid  paced  and fast  parts  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  elements  of  traditional  and  thrash  metal  at  times  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  death  metal  growls  and  as  the  album  progresses  clean  playing  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  when  clean  vocals  are  used  they  bring  more  of  a  pagan  atmosphere  to  the  bands  musical  style  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  a  later  track  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  along  with  some  folk  instruments  being  utilized  almost  towards  the  end.

  Fimbulvinter  plays  a  style  of  pagan/black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  epic,  melodic  and  atmospheric  and  also  brings  in  a  touch  of  death  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russian  and  cover  Norse  Paganism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Fimbulvinter  are a  very  great  sounding  pagan/black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Swarms  Of  Ravens"  "Cold.  Hate.  Destruction"  and  "The  World  Will  End".  8  out  of  10.

Black Antlers/Demo III/Symbol Of Domination Productions/2013 Demo Review

  Black  Antlers  are  an  international  band  with  members  from  both  U.S.A  and  Croatia  that  plays  a  mixture  of  raw  black  metal  and  ambient  and  this  is  a  reviewing  of  their  2013  demo  which  was  released  by  Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions.

  A  distorted  noise  starts  off  the  demo  along  with  some  acoustic  guitars a  few  seconds  later  and  on  the  second  track  elements  of  dark  ambient  and  melodic  chants  are  added  into  the  music  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  being  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  spoken  word  aprts  have  a  demonic  tone  to  them.

  Once  grim  screams  are  added  into  the  music  the  recording  starts  going  for  a  very  fast  and r aw  black  metal  sound  that  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  the  vocals  also start  getting  more  high  pitched  and  suicidal  at  times  while  some  parts  they  go into  a  deeper  direction  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  some  of  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  they  bring  in  ambient  elements which  they  mix  in  with  the  more  raw  style  of  black  metal.

 Black  Antlers  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  underground  while  also  mixing  in  ambient  at  times  to  make  the  music  stand  out  a  bit  more,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  nature  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Black  Antlers  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  raw  black  metal  and  ambient  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Erasing  hate"  and  "Inner  Peace".  8  out  of  10.

Wailing Strand/On Shores Of Solitude/Symbol Of Domination Productions/2013 EP Review

  Wailing  Strand  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  ep  "On  Shores  Of  Solitude"  which  was  released  by  Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions.

  Nature  sounds  and  clean  playing  start  off  the  ep  and  a  few  seconds  later  the  music  gets  more  heavy  and  depressive  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  and  after  awhile  whispers  and  melodic  guitar  leads  start  becoming  a  huge  part  of  the  music  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  All  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction  and  when  melodic chants  are  utilized  they  bring  almost  a  pagan  atmosphere  to  the music  and  the  band  also  manages  to  make  the  music  very  atmospheric  with  the  melodies  that  come  out  of  the  guitar  leads  and  they  close  the  ep  with  a  2  minute  track.

  Wailing  Strand  plays  a  style  of  atmospheric  black  metal  that  is  mostly  guitar  driven  and  also  avoids  any  fast  parts  or  blast  beats to  focus  more  on  an  emotional  sound,  the  production  sounds  very  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  nature,  mysticism,  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Wailing  Strand  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Misty  Grove".  8  out  of  10.

Zarach 'Baal' Tharagh/Chose Your God/Symbol Of Domination Productions/2013 Demo Review

  Zarach  'Baal'  Tharagh  are  a  solo  project  from  France  that  plays a  very  raw  and  noisy  black  metal,     and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2013  demo  "Choose  Your  God"  which  was  released  by  Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions.

 A  very  raw  and  noisy  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  demo  along  with  some  high  pitched  screams  and  the  music  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  primitive  energy  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  deep  demonic  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  All  of  the  drum  beats  are  programmed  and  there  is  one  track  that  sounds  like  a  record  is  being played  backwards  in  the  background  while  only  a  few  seconds  of  melody  is  ever  brought  into  the  music  and  the  vocals  also  get  very  grim  at  times  and  all  of  the  tracks  avoid using  any  guitar  solos  or  leads.

  Zarach  'Baal'  Tharagh  plays a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  lo-fi  and  also  keeps  everything  very  underground  and  primal,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  angry  and  anti  religion  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Zarach  'Baal'  Tharagh  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fuck"  and  "Choose  Your  God".  8  out  of  10.

Akhenaten/Incantations Through The Gates Of Irkalla/Satanath Records/Murdher Records/Darzamadicus Records/2015 CD Review

  Akhenaten  are  a  duo  from  Manitou  Springs,  Colorado  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  Middle  Eastern   folk  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Through The Gates Of Irkalla"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath Records,  Murdher  Records,  and  Darzamadicus Records.

  A  middle  eastern  folk  music  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  synths  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  getting  more  heavy  and melodic  while  also  keeping  around  the  folk  elements  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  an  epic  feeling  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  When  vocals  are  added  into  the  music  they  use  a  great  mixture  of  both  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  when  spoken  word  parts  are  utilized  they  give  the  songs  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

 At  times  the  music  gets  very  tribal  and  shamanistic  at  times  and  as  the  album  progresses  some  of  the  fast  riffs  bring  in  raw  black  metal  elements  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small amount  of  acoustic  guitars while  a  couple  of  tracks  are  instrumental  and  they  close  the  album  with  a  cover  of  Septic  Flesh's  "Anubis"  which  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  singing.

  Akhenaten  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  black  and  death  metal  and  they  mix  in  Middle  Eastern  folk  and world  music  to  create  a  very  original  style,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Sumerian,  Reptilian,  Anunnakian, Canaan,  Vedic  and  Egyptian  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Akhenaten  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  death  metal  and  Middle  Eastern  folk  music  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Enlil:  Lugal  Kurk  Ur  Ra"  "The  Passage  Through  Flames" "Golden  Palace  Of  The  Lamassu"  and  "Anubis".  8  out  of  10.

  Abigorum  are  a  band  from  Russia  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  metal,  doom  and  dark  ambient  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013 single  "My  Haemophilia'  which  was  released  by  Satanath  Records.

  A  very  distorted  drone  starts  off  the  song  along  with  some  drum  beats,  raw  guitars  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams that  also  gives  the  song  a  depressive  feeling  and  you  can  also  hear  ambient  and  industrial  elements  in  the  background  while  the  track  remains  true  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction  that  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  doom  metal  elements.

  Abigorum  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  depressive  black  metal  which  they  also  mix  with  ambient  and  doom  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

 In  my  opinion  Abigorum  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  metal,  doom  and  ambient  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should check  out  this  band.  8  out  of  10.
