Ancient Tundra/All Light Has Since Escaped Me/Hypnotic Dirge Records/2017 Single Review

  Ancient  Tundra  are  a  duo  from  Saskatchewan,  Canada  that  plays  a  mixture  of  atmospheric  black  metal  and  dark  ambient  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  single  "All  Light  Has  Since  Escaped  Me"  which  was  released  by  Hypnotic  Dirge  Records.

  Ambient  style  synths  start  off  the song  along  with  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  and  they  also  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sound  a  few  seconds  later  and the  clean  playing  gives  the  song  a  touch  of  post  metal  while  the heavier  riffing  is  more  on  the  atmospheric  black  metal  side  and  the  track  is  over  10  minutes  in  length  and  after  awhile  drum  beats  are  added onto  the recording  along  with  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  along  with  some  black  metal  screams  and  the  vocals  also  get  melodic  at  times.

  Ancient  Tundra  plays  a musical  style  on  this  song  that takes  dark  ambient  and  atmospheric  black  metal  to  create  an  epic  track,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  nature  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Ancient  Tundra  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  atmospheric  black  metal  and  if  you  are a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  single.  8  out  of  10.
