Hungary's Taltos has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a very experimental and folk influenced form of black metal and this is a review of theor self released 2024 album inden ok nelkul tortenik".
Tribal style percussion starts off t he album along with some folk instruments a few seconds later which also gives the music more of a shamanistic and ritualistic atmosphere. Throat singing can also b e heard briefly while the heavier riffs also add in a decent amount of melody and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
Some of the guitar riffing also shows an influence of punk rock while the vocals also add in a great amount of grim black metal screams. One track also adds in elements of ska and reggae along with some trip hop and industrial style beats also being utilized at times, clear vocals are also added on a few tracks.
Psychedelic sounding keyboards and violins also being added into the music briefly and the most of the album sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction along with one song also adding in blast beats and fast playing, female vocals are also added on the closing track. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Hungarian and cover politics and rebellion themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Taltos and if you are a fan of experimental and folk influenced black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Slave Nation" "Whore's Life" "For Whose Defence" and "Hikkomori". 8 out of 10.
