Sweden's Grimtone has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Ad Infinitum et Ultra" which will be released on May 23rd by Void Wanderer Productions.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the songs along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams and growls can also be heard in the background at times.
Clear singing can also be heard in certain sections of the album while the songs also mix in a good amount of old school influences. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and when guitar leads are finally utilized briefly they are done in a very dark yet melodic style and all of the tracks stick to a slower direction.
On this recording Grimtone goes for a mixture of black and doom metal which is also very different sounding from their previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover anger and darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Grimtone and if you are a fan of black and doom metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Grains Of Sand" and "Dissolved By Time". 8 out of 10.
