Najand are a solo project from Iran that started out more as a depressive black metal project and over the years have evolved into more of a mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of his self released 2024 album "The Letter Of Death".
Clean playing starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some synths also being added on a couple of tracks and the songs also add in a great amount of death metal elements.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can also be heard while acoustic guitars and folk instruments can also be heard on a couple of songs. A great portion of the tracks also stick to a more mid tempo direction along with the tremolo picking riffs also giving the album more of a raw feeling when they are utilized as well as some of the vocals also adding in a depressive touch at times, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and the closing track is an instrumental.
Najand plays a musical style that takes black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Persian and cover revolution, class struggle and social change.
In my opinion Najand is a very great sounding mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "After the Eternity" "Faceless Mirrors" "The Machine Of Execution" and "Nocturnal Newsletter Of Hope". 8 out of 10.
